Waterdeep Dragon Heist: a new adventure in GM’ing the next generation.
Recently Geek Jr, and his little brother, decided they’d like to play a D&D campaign and introduce their student ministry friends to D&D. We scheduled session zero. Being the Cool Dad I am I said sure I’ll DM you guys. Man did I underestimate the insanity that comes from the imagination of 5 preteen and teenage boys…
Before we even dived into Chapter 1 and spoke with Volo they were picking pockets, attacking each other in character, and starting trouble with NPCs. Within a couple of “goofing-around” actions a few were at half hit points, at level 1. You might be thinking “Why did you let them do this?” I let them go for a bit then used it as an opportunity to remind them that in the world of Waterdeep there are consequence. I used the Troll from the Yawning Portal well to remind them that a TPK could be around any corner if they didn’t play their cards right.
